Oshun Goddess of Love & Beauty Mini Statue
An Orisha is a spirit that reflects one of the manifestations of God in Africa's Yoruba religion. Many Orishas have found their way throughout the Americas via the Atlantic slave trade and are now expressed in practices as varied as Santería, Candomblé, Trinidad Orisha, and Oyotunji.
Oshun is the Orisha of the fresh waters, the goddess of the river that shares her name. She brings prosperity and fertility to her worshipers, she especially watches over the poor and the sick. As the Orisha of love, she is often represented as a beautiful young women or a mermaid. With the African diaspora, Oshun was brought to the Americas and adopted into Cuban, Brazilian, and Haitian religious belief systems.
