More About White Moonstone:

Moonstone's distinctive sheen caused by light diffraction within internal layers of the Orthoclase and Albite. White Moonstone is a member of the Orthoclase Feldspar group of minerals, different than Rainbow Moonstone (which is actually a member of the Labradorite Feldspar group).

With its soft, white shimmer, it’s clear to see why it was named for its resemblance to the moon. People have associated this mineral with the moon since ancient times, associating it strongly with lunar deities. The Romans believed it to be moon rays condensed into solid form.

This crystal mimics the energy of wholeness that's visible in the full moon. This crystal has a very receptive energy that makes it great for manifesting, so wearing or carrying it with you can help draw things to you that you feel have been missing from your life. It also connects with the energy of water element. However, since Moonstone contains aluminum, please don’t use it for making crystal elixirs. Moonstone is also a great protective stone for travelers. (Na,K)AlSi3O2

A Crystal Ritual with White Moonstone
for the First Quarter Moon:

Find a quiet spot in nature or in your sacred space during the time of the First Quarter Moon and settle in comfortably. Set a tumbled White Moonstone on the earth in front of you and visualize it filling up with the Earth's energy. Then pick up the stone, hold it above your head, and visualize it glowing with the light of the growing Moon. Now bring the stone to your heart and think of everything you’ve learned or accomplished during this lunation cycle so far (from the time of the New Moon until now). Give yourself some time and space to celebrate your journey!

How to Spot Fake Moonstone:

Moonstone comes in many varieties and colors, but is typically fairly easy to recognize once you know what you're looking for. There is some VERY high quality (and SUPER expensive!) Moonstone that's transparent with a blue adularescence that sort of resembles Opalite, but these shouldn't be easily mixed up. Opalite, however, is mis-labeled as Moonstone (or Opal) all the time!

To spot the difference between Moonstone and Opalite, look at the inside of the stone. Is it completely flawless and transparent without any fissures, veils, fractures, etc? If so, then it's likely Opalite and not Moonstone. Are there any bubbles present? Bubbles indicate glass, so if you can see them, you have Opalite and not Moonstone. Is the stone uniformly milky or foggy in appearance? If yes, then it's likely Opalite. Also consider the price.
