Translated from Japanese, Reiki roughly means Universal Life Force Energy. It's been in modern practice since it was received (or some say channeled or recovered) by Mikao Usui Sensei in 1922. Modern-day Reiki is thought by some to be quite different than how it was likely originally presented by Usui because there are variations in teaching style, practice, technique, and lineage.
